IMPORTANT UPDATE – JANUARY 11, 2018: We are aware of issues affecting the Payza Card. Please note that if you currently have a Payza Card, some features are no longer fully functional. We have stopped taking new Payza Card orders at this time. Payza Cards that have been recently ordered and have not yet been shipped will be canceled and refunded. We apologize for the inconvenience. More information will follow as it becomes available.
The Payza Card is one of our most popular products. It gives our members in over 190 countries a simple way to access the money in their Payza accounts and use those funds to shop online or in-person. The Payza Card can also be used at most ATMs, putting cash right in your hand.
Our customer support team gets asked more questions about the Payza Card than about any other feature. To help answer these questions we recently put together this handy guide to using your Payza Card. You can also visit the Payza Card section of the Payza Personal Manual for more details on how to order and use the Payza Card.
Ordering Your Payza Card
To order a Payza Card, first make sure your Payza account is verified. Only members with verified accounts will be able to order the card.
Once your account is verified, just follow these steps to order your own Payza Card:
- In your Payza account, click “Wallet” in the left side menu, then select “Prepaid Cards”.
- Click “Order your Card”.
- Select the type of card you would like to order and personalize it with your name if desired, then click “Next”.
- If necessary, upload a Photo ID and Proof of Address document then click “Next”. Your documents must be in .JPG or .PDF format and less than 3 MB in size.
- Confirm your shipping address, then click “Next”.
- Enter your Payza Transaction PIN then click “Order” to confirm your request.
Activating the Payza Card
Once your card arrives in the mail, the first thing you will need to do is to activate it by following these steps:
- In your Payza account, open the “Wallet” menu (on the left side) and select “Prepaid Cards”.
- Under the “Status” heading, select “Activate”.
- Enter the first 12 digits appearing on your card (the last 4 digits will already be entered).
- Create a unique Payza Card PIN and click “Confirm”.
- Click “Activate Card” to complete the activation process.
Please note: Your Payza Card PIN is not the same as your Payza Transaction PIN. We recommend choosing a different number to ensure maximum security.
Loading Your Payza Card
Now that your card is activated, it can be used just about anywhere you would use a traditional credit card. Of course, your starting balance on the card will be $0, so first you’ll have to load funds onto it. To load funds, simply create a withdrawal transaction in your Payza account and select Payza Prepaid Card as your withdrawal method. Just follow these three steps to load your card:
- In your Payza account, open the “Withdraw Funds” top menu, then select “Payza Prepaid Card”.
- Select the currency balance you’d like to withdraw from and the amount of funds to load onto your card.
- Review the details and click “Withdraw” to confirm your transaction.
Please note: The Payza Card is currently available in US Dollars only. However, you can load your Payza card from a non-USD currency balance and we will exchange the currency into USD within your account. You can also make Payza Card payments in other currencies and the currency exchange will be conducted by Payza.
It is important to remember that you cannot load the Payza Card using funds added to your Payza account by credit card. This constitutes a cash advance which is not permitted by the Payza User Agreement.
Using Your Payza Card
Once your card has been activated and loaded with funds, you can begin using it immediately almost anywhere you can use a standard credit or debit card: online, in stores, and at most ATMs. Here’s how to use the Payza Card in each of these cases.
Making a payment online with your Payza Card is the same process as using a traditional credit card. You will be required to provide basic information such as your name, the card number and the expiration date in order to make a purchase. You may in some cases also be asked for your billing address: in this case, simply enter your address as it appears in your Payza account.
In-store purchases using your Payza Card are no different from using a standard debit or credit card. Depending on the merchant’s POS (Point-Of-Sale) terminal, you will simply need to either swipe your card or insert it into the card reader, confirm the purchase amount, and enter your PIN to complete the transaction instantly.
Most ATMs that accept MasterCard will allow you to withdraw funds from your Payza Card. To withdraw from the card, just follow these steps:
- Insert your card into any ATM that accepts MasterCard.
- When prompted, enter your PIN.
- When asked for the account type, select “Checking”.
- Complete your withdrawal by following the instructions provided by the ATM.
Solving Transactions Issues
If your Payza Card transaction fails, please ensure the following three things before contacting Payza for further assistance:
- You have sufficient funds loaded onto your card.
- You are using the correct Payza Card PIN (which may differ from your Payza Transaction PIN).
- For online purchases, you are entering the name as it appears in your Payza account, even if it is different from your name as printed on your Payza Card.
If you have ruled these causes out and your transaction has still failed, please contact our Customer Support Team directly for further assistance. If you made an in-store or online purchase with your card and would like a refund or return, you should contact the merchant directly. If they are unwilling or unable to refund your purchase, you can contact our Customer Support Team for further assistance.
As we continue to increase our commitment to local payment options, the Payza Card will be made available to more customers all around the world. For more information about the Payza Card and other Payza products and features, please visit the Payza Reference Center and be sure to subscribe to our blog.
The new Bitcoin services from Payza have generated a lot of interest and many of our members have already begun testing these features out for themselves.
Here at Payza, our goal is to let you pay or get paid your way. No matter where you are in the world, there are a number of different ways to send and receive money via Payza. One of our most popular features is our unique support for Bitcoin. Payza was one of the first payment platforms to introduce cryptocurrency support, first with Bitcoin Withdrawals, which remains one of the easiest ways to buy Bitcoin online, then with Bitcoin Deposits, an equally simple way to sell Bitcoin.
Bitcoin has gotten more popular and more widely used since then – in fact, this week Bitcoin hit a new record high. It was the perfect time for Payza to unveil a wide range of new Bitcoin features, including full Bitcoin currency support, allowing Payza users to hold the cryptocurrency right in their e-wallets.
Exchange Bitcoin to or from Fiat Currency
When Payza began supporting Bitcoin in 2014, users could deposit and withdraw funds from their accounts using Bitcoin, but those funds would always be converted to or from USD and Bitcoin could not be held in their e-wallets. Now with full support for Bitcoin, you can hold Bitcoin balances in your account and freely convert funds between Bitcoin and the fiat currencies that Payza supports.
To Exchange Bitcoin within your Payza account, just follow these steps:
- In your Payza account, click on “Wallet” and then on “Manage Balances”.
- Select “Exchange Currencies”.
- To exchange fiat currency into Bitcoin:
- Under “Balance” select the currency you’d like to exchange from.
- Under “Transfer amount” enter the amount in the original currency you’d like to convert into Bitcoin.
- Under “Transfer to” select “Bitcoin”.
- To exchange Bitcoin into fiat currency:
- Under “Balance” select “Bitcoin”.
- Under “Transfer amount” enter the amount of Bitcoin that you’d like to convert into a fiat currency.
- Under “Transfer to” select the currency you’d like to exchange your Bitcoin into.
- Click “Next”.
- Review the transaction details and click “Confirm”.
On the Exchange Currencies page there is a handy currency calculator on the right hand side of the page where you can view up-to-date currency exchange rates and calculate the value of your currency exchange transaction. Use the currency calculator to help you find the perfect time to make your Bitcoin exchange.
Send Funds by Bitcoin
On top of being able to exchange Bitcoin and hold Bitcoin directly within your Payza account, now you can also send Bitcoin to other Payza members instantly within your Payza account.
To Send Bitcoin, follow these steps:
- In your Payza account, click “Send Funds” in the top menu.
- Enter the email address of the Payza user you’d like to send funds to.
- Enter the amount of Bitcoin you would like to transfer.
- Under “Currency” select “Bitcoin”.
- Under “Fees” select whether you’d like the recipient to pay the fees (they will be deducted from the total amount sent), or whether you’d like to pay the fees (in addition to the total amount sent).
- Review the details, enter your Transaction PIN, and click “Send”.
When you send Bitcoin using Payza, the receiving fees are just 1.2%. That’s lower than the standard receiving fees for other currencies, making Bitcoin a great currency choice for sending and receiving money through Payza.
Bitcoin Wallet Transfers – Send Bitcoin from Payza to other Bitcoin Wallets, or from other Wallets to Payza
You can now transfer Bitcoin between your Payza e-wallet and other Bitcoin Wallets, allowing you to easily add and withdraw Bitcoin from your Payza account.
To Add Bitcoin to your Payza account from a Bitcoin Wallet, follow these steps:
- In your Payza account, click “Add Funds” in the top menu, then select “Bitcoin”.
- Select whether you’d like the funds to be deposited in Bitcoin or to be converted into USD.
- Enter the deposit amount (in Bitcoin), and click “Next”.
- Review the details, enter your Transaction PIN, and click “Deposit”.
- Payza will provide you with a unique Bitcoin address for you to send your Bitcoins and a set of instructions for completing your transaction.
Update: You can now generate multi-use Bitcoin addresses with the Cryptocurrency Address Manager. See this blog post for more info: Payza Introduces Cryptocurrency Address Manager for Easy Bitcoin Transfers.
To Withdraw Bitcoin from your Payza account and send it to another Bitcoin Wallet, follow these steps:
- In your Payza account, open “Withdraw Funds” in the top menu, then select “Bitcoin”.
- Select Bitcoin as your Payza currency balance, enter the Amount, enter the address of your Bitcoin Wallet, and click “Next”.
- Review the details, enter your Transaction PIN, and click “Withdraw”.
Note: the above instructions are for sending Bitcoin from Payza to other e-wallets. If you would like to buy Bitcoin using funds in your Payza e-wallet, but hold those Bitcoin in another Bitcoin Wallet, see this blog post: Buy Bitcoin with Payza: Introducing Withdrawal by Bitcoin.
With these new features, Payza has become the world’s first e-wallet provider which allows members to use Bitcoin just like any other currency. On top of the newest features, Payza will be unveiling full cryptocurrency exchange services in the coming weeks.
Payza is committed to providing versatile payment options for internet users everywhere. New features are introduced all the time as Payza continues to improve services for customers all over the globe. For more information on Bitcoin, local payment options, and other Payza products and features, be sure to subscribe to our blog.
Payza is excited to be among the first online payment and remittance platforms to offer a direct way to buy Bitcoin. We feel it’s an important milestone both for our company and the cryptocurrency movement.
If you don’t have experience with Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, we realize this can be an exciting but intimidating new world, so we want to help you get familiar with it.
Once you get to know Bitcoin, we expect you’ll be a lot less intimidated and even more excited.
What is Bitcoin?
At its core, Bitcoin is both a currency and payment network that’s designed for the internet age.
Today, the Bitcoin network processes over 50,000 transactions per day, and the cost of 1 bitcoin is approximately $550 USD.
Unlike typical currencies, bitcoins are sent person to person via the Bitcoin network program, without using any third-parties. This means transactions happen instantly, at an extremely low cost, anywhere in the world, with very strong security. These factors make Bitcoin a terrific online payment method.
Just like regular money, there are dangers when it comes to Bitcoin and your best defense against them is education.
How do I store my bitcoins?
Bitcoins are stored in your personal Bitcoin Wallet. There are several different wallet services available online each with their own set of benefits and drawbacks. It’s similar to how you would treat your wallet, your checking account, and your physical safe with different levels of security versus convenience.
With Locks, you can tie the value of your Bitcoin balance to a traditional currency or even to gold, helping you avoid the ups and downs of Bitcoin’s price changes. This makes Bitcoin less of an investment risk for new Bitcoin users.
“Locks now lets everyday consumers reap the benefits of the Bitcoin network, without having to speculate on day-trading bitcoins,” said Ira Miller, CEO of Coinapult.
How do I keep my bitcoins safe?
It’s important to remember that just like your money in the real world, it is up to you to make sure you have the right level of security for your bitcoins. Bitcoin.org has lots of tips to help you learn how to keep your bitcoins safe.
Where can I spend my bitcoins?
Because Bitcoin is so easy to set up and use, there are many businesses worldwide that have begun to accept Bitcoin as a method of payment. Currently, it is estimated that between 60,000-80,000 merchants across the world accept Bitcoin, from mom and pop shops to billion-dollar corporations like Dell.com.
In addition, there are also easy-to-use services available that will purchase goods on your behalf if the merchant you want to buy from does not currently accept Bitcoin. Since Bitcoin helps create simple solutions, the question really is, what can’t you buy with Bitcoin?!
As Bitcoin grows in popularity more and more businesses have climbed aboard the Bitcoin bandwagon, taking advantage of Bitcoin’s low transfer fees and state-of-the-art security features. Every day, more and more businesses of all sizes add Bitcoin to their payment methods.
Buying your first bitcoins
So now that you know what Bitcoin is, you’ve set up a wallet and you’ve learned the basics about security, it’s time to test the waters. Right now the price of 1 bitcoin is about $550, and you’re probably thinking that’s a lot of money just to test Bitcoin out.
The good news is, you don’t need to buy a whole bitcoin, each bitcoin can be divided into one hundred million equal parts! The smallest unit is called a Satoshi (after Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious creator of Bitcoin) and is worth 0.00000001 bitcoins.
With Payza, the minimum Bitcoin withdrawal amount is just 20$ USD, so you don’t have to worry about breaking the bank.
At Payza, we’re extremely excited to be a part of the Bitcoin movement and we hope you are too. Look for more Bitcoin educational articles on the Payza blog and more Bitcoin features coming soon!
