PrestaShop Review: Learn About Payza Shopping Cart Modules

PrestaShop Review

Choosing the right shopping cart is not a decision to be made lightly. There are a lot of them out there and they don’t all support the same tools and functions, so you need to think about your customers’ needs and choose a shopping cart that supports the features necessary for your business. To help this process along, we’re offering our in-depth reviews of Payza-supported shopping carts.

PrestaShop Review (PrestaShop.com)

PrestaShop is one of the most widely-used e-commerce solutions in the world, it is included on 0.5% of all websites on the internet. Published under the Open Software License (OSL), PrestaShop’s popularity among websites using open source technologies is 9% – meaning roughly 1 out of every 11 websites using open source software is using PrestaShop.

One of PrestaShop’s most popular features is their shopping cart software. In our overview of the best shopping cart options for Payza users, we’ve already taken an in-depth look at Magento and WHMCS, two very powerful and popular solutions. Compared to those platforms, PrestaShop has two very attractive advantages.

One-Stop Shop

Uniquely, PrestaShop offers a complete shopping cart software package, perfect for merchants who have no developer skills of their own. The installation is known for being one of the most painless on the market, and the backend interface is intuitive and easy-to-use, allowing even total beginners to build and customize their shopping carts.

Free service with paid add-ons

Equally important for online sellers just starting out, PrestaShop is the only free, fully hosted open-source e-commerce shopping cart platform on the market. There is no trial period – it is free to use for as long as you want to use it. There are paid add-ons and additional features, but everything you need to run a customized shopping cart for your online store is available to you at no charge.

The freemium model allows PrestaShop to eliminate the financial barriers to online entrepreneurship that can deter cost-averse merchants, but the inclusivity of this solution doesn’t stop at price. PrestaShop is offered as either downloaded or cloud-hosted software and available in over 60 languages, so e-tailers all over the world can host their online stores in the cloud, helping to make e-commerce accessible globally.

Downsides

The downside of the freemium model is that PrestaShop’s income is limited to the sale of add-ons, so they are not able to provide dedicated support staff. Instead, there is a community of open-source developers that maintain an official PrestaShop forum, where users can get help for their issues.

PrestaShop is also well aware of its role and popularity among small businesses, entrepreneurs, and others who are new to e-commerce, so it foregoes some more intensive features and functionality in favor of usability and accessibility. For this reason, Magento is a better choice for large established businesses with dedicated developers on staff who want something fully versatile and customizable, while PrestaShop offers a more basic, entry-level platform that still offers everything a small business could need.

Pros

  • Totally free-to-use
  • Comes with built-in shopping cart templates
  • Easy, intuitive administration panel

Cons

  • Less out-of-the-box and custom features
  • Limited SEO functionality
  • No dedicated support team

Payza-integrated shopping carts allow merchants to provide a simple and familiar checkout option for their customers. Your clients can make single-step, multi-item purchases and every transaction will be securely and instantly processed by Payza. PrestaShop’s free, secure and open source shopping cart platform comes complete with over 275 features that have been carefully developed to assist business owners in increasing sales with little effort.

PrestaShop – “PrestaShop was founded in 2007 with a mission to provide world-class ecommerce software through open source innovation. Today more than 250,000 ecommerce stores in 195 countries run on PrestaShop technology.”

WHMCS Review: Learn About Payza Shopping Cart Modules

Choosing the right shopping cart is not a decision to be made lightly. There are a lot of them out there and they don’t all support the same tools and functions, so you need to think about your customers’ needs and choose a shopping cart that supports the features necessary for your business. To help this process along, we’re offering our in-depth reviews of Payza-supported shopping carts.

WHMCS Review (WHMCS.com)

We began our series of shopping-cart reviews with Magento, a powerful, flexible and cost-effective e-commerce platform. The one major downside of Magento is that it’s not known for being user-friendly, and can be very challenging to use for small and mid-sized merchants who lack developer skills of their own.

So for merchants looking for a simple, turnkey billing solution, WHMCS is an excellent choice, always close to the top of the list of recommendations and known industry-wide for its excellent customer service. Though WHMCS does not develop its own shopping cart templates, they provide a robust billing platform and offer round-the-clock customer support for each and every one of their users.

Originally launched in 2005, WHMCS built its business by providing a complete end-to-end solution to web hosts and internet service providers, automating the delivery of web hosting, domain name registration and associated digital services through a single centralized platform. WHMCS now powers many of the world’s leading web hosting companies and can be integrated with any type of business that requires online billing.

How it Works

WHMCS does not provide its own shopping cart templates – they solely handle the billing side of things for you. Payza provides the shopping cart module to be integrated with your existing e-commerce website and processes all the payments collected by WHMCS.

This means that when one of your clients places an order through your Payza-integrated shopping cart, WHMCS sends them a high quality, professional-looking bill. This invoice is sent in HTML and PDF format by email to the client, so they don’t even need to visit your site to view or pay their bill. The invoices themselves are fully customizable.

One of the key advantages of WHMCS is that they will even follow up with payment due date reminders and seek out outstanding payees – meaning that if you have any unpaid bills, WHMCS will chase after your delinquent clients for you to make sure the invoice gets paid in full.

Pricing

Though WHMCS is not free, it is one of the cheapest billing solutions on the market. You can sign up for a free 30-day trial, after which you can use WHMCS for all your billing purposed for somewhere between $15 and $19 per month. Compared to some other providers who charge anywhere between $500 and $5000 per month, WHMCS is a steal.

WHMCS is very popular with web hosts and developers because they are both user-friendly and very versatile for those with developer skills. WHMCS is deeply committed to providing up-to-date and reliable integration with the latest web hosting technologies and with all the leading services & providers web hosts use, combined with high-quality service and support available around the clock.

Pros

  • Free 30-day trial available
  • Best customer support in the business
  • Integrated with over 75 different payment gateways

Cons

  • Monthly fee (starting at about $15/month)
  • Currently only supports English
  • Requires 3rd party modules

Payza-integrated shopping cart modules allow Payza members to integrate complete, ready-to-use shopping carts into their websites at no extra cost, with payments processed instantly by Payza. The WHMCS shopping cart module combines billing and support into a single package for merchants looking for a complete and versatile shopping cart, with the added benefit of the provider’s trademark user-friendliness and their focus on customer support as a number one priority.

WHMCS  – “Choose WHMCS today and unlock a whole new level of business automation that saves you time, increases efficiency, and gives you valuable insights to help maximise your revenue. Plus much more.”

Magento Review: Learn About Payza Shopping Cart Modules

Magento Shopping Cart Review

Choosing the right shopping cart is not a decision to be made lightly. There are a lot of different options out there and each one provides a different set of tools and features. When choosing a shopping cart, you need to think about the needs of your customers in order to know which option provides the features necessary for your business. To help this process along, we’re offering in-depth reviews of Payza-supported shopping carts, starting with Magento.

To call Magento just a shopping cart really doesn’t do it justice. Founded in 2007, Magento is an open-source, full-service e-commerce platform and content management system. Written in PHP, the platform is fully customizable and easily scalable for a growing business. That means that Magento is designed to grow with your company, making it an ideal choice for new and established e-commerce businesses. If you want to launch or upgrade an online store consider Magento for the strength of the platform’s expansive features and its sheer popularity.

Marketed as “The World’s Most Flexible Commerce Platform,” Magento is certainly one of the world’s most popular. In May 2015, AheadWorks released a report that put Magento’s share of the e-commerce platform market at a massive 30%. Magento 2 was launched later that year, which improved upon the platform’s design and functionality.

Two Versions of Magento

There are two versions of Magento to consider, each designed to meet specific needs.

  • Community Edition – The free version of Magento, which you can download directly from their website and host on your own server. This is the only version you need to install to have the Magento shopping cart module for Payza. For a small fee, the Community Edition is also available as a hosted service. This means you won’t have to install anything yourself.
  • Enterprise Edition – The paid version is set up for you by Magento and is designed with large companies in mind. Unlike the Community Edition, the Enterprise Edition gives you access to Magento’s partners and certified developers who can help you get started and manage your online store.

Finding a platform that is reliable, flexible, and affordable can be a challenge – usually, you can get only two of those qualities. Magento’s popularity stems from the fact that it is one of the few services to provide all three. E-commerce business owners love the software’s cost-effectiveness, which ranges from the free version, with both free and paid plug-ins and add-ons, to the versatile paid versions aimed at larger enterprises. Pretty much any feature you could want is available in Magento, especially if you have the coding skills to take advantage of them.

There is one drawback though, the free version doesn’t include technical support from Magento staff. You need to have some technical know-how to configure and customize your website, or hire a developer to do that for you. Since it is such a robust, versatile platform, integration can pose a challenge for business owners who are not familiar with programming. Magento also does not include templates in any edition, so if you’re looking for a “plug-and-play” content management system, this may not be the platform for you.

If what you need is a shopping cart for your existing website though, using Payza’s free Magento shopping cart module with the free Community Edition is as plug-and-play as you can get. Just download Magento from Magento.com and then visit our Supported Shopping Cart Modules page to download the module.

Pros

  • Free
  • Feature-intensive
  • Scalable

Cons

  • No templates
  • Developer skills required
  • No free hosting

Payza-integrated shopping carts allow merchants to provide a simple and familiar checkout option for their customers. Your clients can make single-step, multi-item purchases, and every transaction will be processed securely by Payza, with the funds landing in your account instantly.

Magento: “More than 240,000 merchants worldwide put their trust in our eCommerce software. Magento’s eCommerce platform gives you the tools you need to attract more prospects, sell more products, and make more money.
